Keep your hands to your lips. Don't talk about it. Real eyes, real lives, real lives All the time. Stand on it. We'll be right back way. Always, look both ways, even on a crossway Driving down Cross Bay. Our town, barclays, really on, big teams Came up a small way Championship rings, baby, that's a ball game. Oh, she want a little bag, baby. That's small change.
Speaker 2:The Epic Podcast. We are back. It's me and Jared. Again, you know it is what it is, but how was your sports weekend, man, can you not hear me? Hello, jared, can you hear me? We good, yeah. Can you hear me Now I can? Oh, we, good, yeah. Can you hear me now I can? Oh yeah, everything's good. Um, oh, wow, okay. Well, how was your sports weekend?
Speaker 3:oh it was cool, man. Uh, uh, yeah. Nothing really exciting happened, um, didn't happen. I mean, the Bengals gone, bengal Ohio State won. They did. So that's pretty much it, man. Preseason basketball started. You know how I feel about the NBA, so like I'm all in, I'm getting ready to watch the Lakers now.
Speaker 2:I was about to say there's like about four games just kicked off right about now.
Speaker 3:So, yeah, yeah, man, I'm locked in. Man, how was yours?
Speaker 2:Pretty good man Outside of, of course, the Coastal losing to Jacksonville. That's crazy bro. Didn't win any money betting this week, so you know, got to jump back in that water again. What else? What else?
Speaker 3:Pacers beat the Hawks in preseason, oh yeah.
Speaker 2:I watched that.
Speaker 3:Halliburton looked good. He got the Puma deal man.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, yeah, he just got Puma deal. He was with Nike for a minute, but then yeah.
Speaker 3:I don't see how people do. He was having some nasty Kobe's too. Yeah, I guess the bag is the bag.
Speaker 2:The bag is the bag. So the bag is the bag, right? Uh, so you got it and puma's coming up, man, like they grabbing a lot of these young guys. Uh, so I mean not never be a nike or adidas or nothing like that, I don't think uh, it's gonna take a while.
Speaker 2:They're a little bit behind the eight ball on that. But I mean, you start grabbing in some of these young guys, they start taking off, start putting out a better product. I just ordered me some Pumas. They actually should have been here today. They might be on the porch. But yeah, there was some limited edition PlayStation ones. Oh, okay. So yeah, no man, but nonetheless, man Comment already. It ain't time, here we go.
Speaker 3:Here we go. We need to just go ahead and hop off whatever I don't know. Come on, bro. I'd rather talk to nobody than clowns watching saying shit like that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, all right, man. Nonetheless, I'm going to start off with WNBA. The NBA finals just kicked off right now too. They start at 8 pm. So we got two former MVPs, breonna Stewart and Raquel Jones, versus the Lynx Courier MVP runner-up from this year, she averaged 27-10 in seven playoff games, so this ought to be good. The Lynx dominated the Liberty during the season. I think they won all their matchups and I think they have like a. I think they have a Commissioner's Cup that they met in and Minnesota ended up winning. If the Liberty was to win, this would be their first title, even though they've been to the finals five times, I believe.
Speaker 2:They went in like 96, 2000, 2002. Actually, I don't know why I'm playing crazy Like I don't have it right here 99, 2000, 2002, and 2023,. They went to the finals, but this will be their first championship.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 2:The Lynx. They started in 2000. They launched their franchise in 2000,. Back with Meyer Moore, number one draft pick in 2011. They won their franchise in 2000, back with Meyer Moore, number one draft pick in 2011. They won four championships in seven years. So they're one of three teams to have four championships. If Minnesota win, they'll be the first team to win five. This ought to be a good matchup man. Like I said, even though Lynx look like they've been dominating all season, it's a different thing in the playoffs. We'll see how that goes. Even though it's not a lot of eyes on WNBA, we're going to keep bringing in a little bit. Keep y'all at least up with what's going on in the playoffs even if y'all not watching.
Speaker 2:Give y'all a little insight. Yeah for sure. See no evil. Okay, dude, I got to look at these comments, even though Moving on to NBA news. So three-time champ with three different tees, Danny Green, retires. Man, he's been around a while, man. I was looking into just how long he's been in the game. He's been in the game a minute. He won a championship with the Spurs in 2014, with the Raptors in 2019, and then with the Lakers in 2020.
Speaker 2:He's 37. Career 40% shooter, drafted in the second round by Cleveland in 2009. Before he was shipped to Spurs, he only played one year Career-high 11 points per game in 2014-15. He made all-defensive team in 2016 and 17. His career averages is only eight, nine points, three rebounds and 832 games, but over 1,500 three-pointers ranked 43rd in NBA history in three-pointers and only one of 12 players to make as many threes and shoot at least 40% from the arc. He's ninth in postseason threes. That's not bad with 315, uh. So, yeah, nah, man, he's, uh just a marksman, one of those guys 3 and d guys for most of his career, yeah, journey guy. Um contributed to, you know, three championship teams and a bunch of playoff runs with a bunch of others. Um, really good dude. I man. I have nothing bad to really say about Danny Green.
Speaker 3:Yeah, shout out to him.
Speaker 2:Shout out to Danny Green. I was reading something on the internet that Adam Silver sees NBA games in China, even though you know the US and China is whatever, but what do you feel about NBA season games being played in China?
Speaker 3:I think it's ridiculous. I already think that you know, like the NFL playing games in London and Mexico, it's just bad for the sport, man, it's just. I feel like, yeah, it's just bad for the sport. I don't think the players like it. I'm not sure if the fans like it. I'm sure the fans in those places like it, but I feel like the USA is always trying to share something.
Speaker 1:That's true.
Speaker 3:It's our. You know what I'm saying? Ain't nobody sharing with us. It's our league.
Speaker 2:Let it be on American Slick, Let it be ours right, Because then you got to worry about the traveling.
Speaker 3:Somebody's mom might want to see them play every game, but some people's parents might not want to travel across the Atlantic Ocean. Exactly Somebody's family might not want to. You might not be able to take your two-year-old on a 13-hour flight. You know what I'm saying. So I personally don't like it, but I mean, it is what it is. It's all about money.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 3:I feel Like some of these leagues and people higher up put money over everything, which I'm a big component of money. I love money, All money and good money.
Speaker 2:So yeah, I agree with that. But I mean, I mean NBA is already a global sport. So a lot of these other countries already play basketball, have teams, have leagues. Of course the NBA drafts. A lot of these other countries already play basketball, have teams, have leagues. Um, of course, the nba drafts a lot of international players year over year. So I mean I guess I kind of seen it coming that eventually they'll start. You know they was gonna start this. You know what I mean, how they was. I think they didn't they play who played in mexico last year? Uh, there was some teams that played in Mexico last year. Yeah, I see it happening.
Speaker 2:I can't say I'm really mad at it, because I understand that you're just the brand of basketball, of the NBA, not basketball particularly, but the NBA. You want to broaden the horizons. Some people in these other countries that are fans would never get to see, like you said, a LeBron play. You know, to LeBron the Horizons. Some people in these other countries that are fans would never get to see a LeBron play you know what I mean In person.
Speaker 3:There's people in our country that'll never get to see LeBron play.
Speaker 2:I haven't seen LeBron play in person.
Speaker 1:Really no, I haven't.
Speaker 2:I just haven't, not that I can't, I just haven't made it, just haven't. Not that I can't, I just haven't. Yeah. Yeah, I feel you Made it to a game and those tickets, man, because when I go I usually take my dad with me, so I got to get two tickets, like I won't go without my dad. You know, it's just something that me and him had started, but those tickets be.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's reasonable, man. I remember me and my homeboy went to Cedric the guy that got us the heat tickets. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Before he got on with the heating and everything, he came up here and we went to LeBron. I think he was with the Cavs still. Yeah, he was with the Cavs still. Man, we sat like probably four rows from the floor for probably $200 a ticket.
Speaker 2:Oh man, that ain't bad Tickets is probably $3,000. That's crazy. Yeah, no, that's good business. I would definitely do it for that much $210 or something like that.
Speaker 2:But, now, with the Pacers being decent, and then when the Lakers come to town, it's like all right, and then I don't want to sit like up all the way you know what I mean in the nose watching at the crib exactly. So I'm like. I'm like I want to at least sit on club level, which is the middle level. Yeah, so if for that, I mean, we're probably gonna look at 500 a ticket, like yeah, I ain't got that Like.
Speaker 1:I said I mean I could do it.
Speaker 3:I would just have to plan it out Then the only thing is, I feel like they always play LeBron on a Tuesday or something.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's never like a weekend game and we might get lucky this year, like I said, with the Pacers being good and then the Lakers being the Lakers, maybe we might get a Saturday night primetime game. You know the Lakers being the Lakers like, maybe we might get a Saturday night prime time game, you know what I mean when we play the Lakers or somebody, because I went to go see them play the Mavericks last year and those weren't bad tickets I think I paid $170,000. And I was like a bottom row on club level, so it wasn't that bad, like a bottom row on club level, except you're one-on-one, so it wasn't that bad. But yeah, no, back to the topic, just saying like a lot of people don't won't get to see these players. So I think expanding it to other countries and giving them a chance to see, you know, nba players in person, I think that that'd be different outside of like the Olympics and stuff like that.
Speaker 2:I wonder how wild those tickets be hey they probably ridiculous, because you could probably just charge whatever you want. Just because it's one game and people going to pay it, just because it's a once a year chance, just like you said in London I'm sure the tickets is astronomical. You know what I mean.
Speaker 2:Just to be there for one, you know, week over week. But moving on, man Run and Shoot, warriors makes 28 threes in this preseason game. So just thinking about Justin to Klay Thompson not being there, no more Making 28 threes in a preseason game where you probably didn't play your starters all four quarters, I think that's pretty good man. Do you think I didn't know that they did that? That's crazy. Yeah, 28 threes I mean. With that I mean being a small, simple size and also preseason. What do you think the Warriors would be without Klay Thompson?
Speaker 3:Man, I think they're going to be heavily relied on them threes, which I don't know if that's the greatest situation for them.
Speaker 3:I feel like they're going to be good, man, I feel like they're coached well. You do still got one of the best, best ever on your team and Steph Curry, they'll be all right. I don't think they're going to be like top four or anything. They'll be all right. They may make the playoffs. I'm not going to go as far as to say play in, but I mean they'll be all right. But the West is actually packed too, though it is. I like the Spurs roster, like somebody, is not going to.
Speaker 2:Surrounding Wimby with veterans. Yeah, that's smart. You got Chris Paul, you got Harrison Barnes, like yeah.
Speaker 3:They got a nice little roster, and it's one of them rosters where you're not really expecting nothing out of it. So then, therefore, you know, people can play freely. If you win cool, you lose cool. You know, no pressure really. Therefore, people can play freely. If you win cool, you lose cool. No pressure, really. I like your team.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the Warriors made 28-52 at a 3-point attempt. That's outrageous, bro. That is crazy. Kaminga, let's see, buddy Hill went 6-7. Kaminga went 4-7. I think Curry Milton hit four, curry and Walters hit one, green and Moody hit two, like everybody kind of contributed. It looked like, but yeah, nah, man, that was crazy. I seen that stat. I was like, oh yeah, I got to talk about this. That was crazy. I seen that stat. I was like, oh yeah, I got to talk about this. And last but not least, man, but NBA GMs overwhelmingly picked the Celtics. To repeat, I don't see it. Me neither, bro.
Speaker 2:I don't see it Like you got you. Look at Sixers that done got better. Mm-hmm. New York the Knicks done got better. Yep, if we get a healthy Milwaukee, who knows what happens there?
Speaker 3:Yep, y'all decent.
Speaker 2:Yeah, indiana's. You know Miami's a wild card. Miami's always a wild card, even if they don't add anything. They just always seem to be there. In the playoffs, second third round, they always seem to be there. Great the.
Speaker 3:Celtics always seem to be there in the playoffs. Second third round. They always seem to be there.
Speaker 2:The Celtics do got a nice team. They didn't lose nobody.
Speaker 3:Their roster is just like it's fire. It is, it's fire. You got everything you need. You got basically two stars that do the same shit. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2:They can score and defend, can score and defend. Then you got specialty defenders. You got a center that gets stretched before. You got a point guard that can guard any perimeter defender, you score two. Yep.
Speaker 3:You got Derek White, he can score, yep. So I mean, some of these teams just have awesome rosters. They're just one of them. I think the Celtics are like just have awesome rosters, they're just one of them. I think the Celtics are like the 49ers of basketball, absolutely they always find a way.
Speaker 3:But the 49ers really haven't gotten it done either. So it's just like I don't know, Like I don't know, We'll have to see, but their roster is just ridiculous. It's damn near unfair. Even with that roster, it wasn't easy breezy on their way to that championship last year. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2:No, absolutely not. They had some fights.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm one of them type of people that look at a win and it's not just a win. If we're talking about it, A win is just a win in record books. Cool. If we're discussing, if we're breaking down, if we're giving analysis, if we're giving predictions, a win just isn't a win, Because I mean, you could play terrible and squeak out a win and you could play excellent and lose you know what.
Speaker 3:I'm saying. So it's just like which one of those are you more prone to, you know? So I mean, yeah, I don't see them repeating. I think repeating would just put them at a level of team that I just don't think the Celtics are at Talent-wise. Yeah, because, like I said, they have awesome. I don't know. I mean it could happen. I don't know. I never predict people to repeat. It's just hard, man, it's hard.
Speaker 2:So Isaac says Boston is still better than all those teams and they have added motivation from Brown and Tatum from the summer. Oh yeah, that's right, because Tatum didn't really play in the Olympics, so yeah, and Brown didn't even get picked for the Olympics, so yeah, that is some added motivation to really show the world that, a that Brown deserved to be there, which I think he did and B Tatum should have got more clock. But again, they're both young. A lot of those guys who played in this Olympics that probably was their last Olympics, probably LeBron's last one, maybe KD's last one, maybe AD's last one. That's tough too.
Speaker 2:You think of four years out, a lot of those guys are going to be. Lebron, of course, would be over 40. Everybody else would be either very close to 40 or 40. Like. So, you know, the Devin Bookers, the Tatums, the Browns, all those guys are going to come around. You know what I mean and eventually, you know, even Halliburton didn't play that much. You know he was talking about. You know it's just not our year. You know what I like. In four years I'm sure our roles will all be different you know what I?
Speaker 2:mean. So I think, I think that's what it'll be. But now I you're right with the added motivation. I definitely believe that, uh, that that will be a driving force for the, for the celtics, this year. All right, so moving on. Alright, so Moving on. Talk a little college football man.
Speaker 3:We got a huge weekend coming up this weekend.
Speaker 2:We do so, of course. I just wanted to start. We've been talking about you were in Manning Past couple weeks. You was want to start. We've been talking about Ewer and Manning the past couple weeks. Ewer's going to start the Red River rivalry against Oklahoma, so we'll see how he plays as he fully recovers from this injury and if he doesn't play that well, right do they start. You know how it always goes.
Speaker 2:Start talking about Manny possibly making the switch. I don't think he was played bad. I just don't see that. Yeah, I just don't see that, unless he's just not all the way fully back, but I thought they would bring him back, especially with how Manny was playing, to bring him back and he's not ready. So, with Texas being number one going against number 18, oklahoma, he's passed for 691 yards at eight touchdowns. He's 5-0, but he hasn't played since September 14th my bad. So yeah, like I said, I don't see it being a problem and I think you know again, manning has been pretty low-key about his playing time and things of that nature. But I do want to look at some of these unbeaten teams and just see where to rank them, because we're slowly but surely running out of undefeated, unbeaten teams in college football.
Speaker 3:Yeah, last week was rough for some boys, man, man definitely us Alabama man Like wow, that was crazy. Yeah, that was crazy, bro so right now.
Speaker 2:Number one you got, of course, texas at 5-0. I think you know just the way they've been playing. They've been first for a while. Nothing in their play or anything that's coming up really could change that.
Speaker 2:Number two, Ohio State. Of course, like they're about to get into the thick of their Big Ten schedule. They're about to get into the thick of their Big Ten schedule, but 5-0, no reason why they shouldn't be second. They were fourth last week, but two this week. So, especially with the Alabama losing, I think they're right where they're supposed to be. They beat Iowa 35-7, which we all knew that Iowa can't score no points. So number three, penn State. They were fifth last week. Number three Again they're about to get into the thick of their Big Ten schedule and then to be defeating UCLA 27-11. I think they're slowly but surely showing that they deserve it. I think they're slowly but surely showing that they deserve it. But again, like I need them to play one of these big SEC schools, like I think that's what I'm waiting for. I'd say he's just here to say that IU is 6-0. I think they made the cut. But number four right now we got Miami Hurricanes. So they were six last week, but they 6-0. They just beat Cal 39-38. Tough game, man.
Speaker 3:Crazy game and I went to sleep on it thinking it was over Crazy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, 39-38. I woke up like huh.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I don't. I think they, like you're going to, I mean against Cal, like, but you got like they need a, they need to play, they need a blowout. Early in the season they were blowing teams out but, like, with that score being so close, I think they need a big blowout this week. But they were sixth last week and they're fourth now. Of course, Cam Ward, you know you always got a chance with the way he's been playing. Number five is the Oregon Ducks. They were seventh last week. They just beat Michigan State 31-10. So Pac-10 really coming over to the Big Ten, kind of.
Speaker 3:I think you got those standings a little messed up. Man Oregon's number three.
Speaker 2:No, I'm just. I'm talking about undefeated teams.
Speaker 3:Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 2:Not overall. So yeah, beating Michigan State. I think Oregon's one of the few teams from the Pac-10 that has been kind of holding their own.
Speaker 2:Everybody else has kind of been, eh. And then IU, number six. They was ninth in undefeated. Last week. They just beat Northwestern 41-24. Jeez, leading by seven at the three quarters. In the fourth quarter they just kind of turned it on Playing real good man. Next week they got Nebraska, so that'll be a good test for them. Nebraska is just one of those notoriously tough college football teams. Iowa State Cyclones 5-0. They were 10th.
Speaker 2:Last week they just beat Baylor 43-21. And they got. Who did they play? They played West Virginia, which West Virginia is again just one of those tough teams Haven't been what they have been in the past, but just one of those tough teams to play and they're, at West Virginia, number eight. We got Pittsburgh. They're 5-0. They were 12th last week. They just beat North Carolina 34-24. And they have Cal coming up, so that may be a tough game for them. If Cal shows any type of play, like they played against Miami, I think Pitt might be in for a long day. But we got BYU 5-0. They was 11th last week. They just be. Oh, they were off, they didn't have a game last week, so they had a bye, but they're still 5-0. They got Arizona this week, which, again, again, that could be a trap game for them. Army black knights, man five and oh they just beat tulsa 49 to seven.
Speaker 2:So, um, good team. They play northern texas. I don't see their schedule being too hard for them, to kind of throw them off, but eventually they're going to have to play Navy which, speaking of Navy, navy's the next team. They just beat Air Force 34-7. And next week they got Notre Dame. So that will be a test for them. Notre Dame needs all these wins, of course, to even think about making the playoffs. You got the Liberty Flames. They 4-0. They were off last week but they play Sam Houston coming up. That's the top 12 undefeated teams right now. Current standings as far as rankings, we got Texas at 1, ohio State at 2, oregon at 3, ohio state at two, oregon at three, penn state at four, georgia at five, miami at six, alabama at seven, which I don't see how you put alabama at seven when they beat georgia and keep georgia at five you're losing it.
Speaker 2:Losing to vanderbilt is crazy yeah, but I would even say put mi at five, maybe Alabama at six and Georgia at seven, because, regardless, georgia still lost to Alabama.
Speaker 3:I get that, but they also didn't lose to like a historic.
Speaker 2:Okay, I see what you said by strength of opponent.
Speaker 3:I mean, even though losing to Georgia is still a quality. You know what I'm saying game but losing to Vanderbilt, I think, is Granted. Now you know how I feel about Alabama. They're still Alabama.
Speaker 2:Do you give the credit? Do you give more credit for beating Georgia or do you take more away from losing to Vanderbilt?
Speaker 3:I guess that's the thing I think you gotta take a hit for losing to Vanderbilt but, Georgia also struggled against Kentucky. Kentucky.
Speaker 2:No no, no, I'm with you, they're just one apart. Just looking at it, I was just like okay, I also think the Alabama Vanderbilt game.
Speaker 3:If it wasn't some fluky shit, they were scoring bro. They keptbilt game if it wasn't like, if it was like some fluky shit, but like they was scoring bro, they kept scoring. Usually, if Alabama jumps out, you know, or their opponent jumps out, eventually they'll just like Alabama will just.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they'll just turn it on, they'll just split it down.
Speaker 3:Like they'll give up 28 points in the first half or whatever, and then just they that's it.
Speaker 2:That's it. They'll end up winning 42-28.
Speaker 3:That's it. Vanderbilt just kept scoring. I'm like there's no way. I agree this is bad loss.
Speaker 2:This is the end of the world.
Speaker 3:No, no, no, I mean no, we've had bad losses too. That loss to Purdue, that one year Terrible. Who else we got smacked by Iowa one year Terrible.
Speaker 2:Oh, I remember that we was at Cabin. We was at Cabin in Tennessee. We were watching that game. I remember David being next to me watching that game, him and John.
Speaker 3:They were pissed, I'm like look, man, it was right after a. A great game too, man, we had came probably like five years ago.
Speaker 2:I want to say like it was it was.
Speaker 3:It was the year my daughter was born.
Speaker 2:It was in 2017, so okay I won't forget it uh so we got alabama, uh, miami, at six, alabama at seven. We got tennessee at eight, um old miss at nine, clemson at 10, iowa at 11, uh, notre dame at 12. We got lsu at 13, byu at 14 14.
Speaker 3:They had a terrible loss too. They got lucky. Who? Notre Dame?
Speaker 2:Yes, but in order for them to make it, they just have to win out, like, I think, the next ranked team they got right now on their schedule, oh, no, they about to play Army.
Speaker 2:Can they do it? Nope, damn, nope, nope. Byu, texas, a&m at 15. You got Utah at 16., boise State at 17., indiana holding strong at 18., oklahoma, 19. Kansas State at 20. You got Missouri at 21., pitt at 22., illinois at 23., Michigan at 24. And SMU at 20. You got Missouri at 21., pitt at 22., illinois at 23., michigan at 24. And SMU at 25. Yep, so those are the college rankings for right now, man.
Speaker 2:Not mad at it, me, neither, me, neither, I'm not mad at it. Last but not least, we're going to jump over to the grown man's league. We'll have a lot more to say. So just looking at some of the headlines and stuff, so of course, the biggest headline right now is, you know, the Jets find Robert.
Speaker 3:Sala, they're crazy, that caught me off.
Speaker 2:Okay, then let's start with that. Then was it justified uh, I think it.
Speaker 3:I I think it was beyond performance. I think something happened. Um, there was some disagreements, like behind the scenes. I don't think it was solely based on his performance. I mean people can say, oh well, he, this record is this, and this man, to me his record is two and three, like because this is the first opportunity for this team to actually be good. You know, I'm saying I'm not really paying attention to his record when the jets, like last year, was a watch bro, like they didn't really count that. Like I think he should have had more than five games with aaron rogers as his quarterback bro, like that's crazy.
Speaker 3:So I think there was definitely some disagreements about how things should be ran. I mean, aaron Rodgers is going to deny it to the death of him. But that little push when and it's crazy how people in the spotlight always try to say, oh, it was nothing, we just we can, we can take, we can watch stuff we're all grown enough to be able to look at body language and be like, nah, it's something more to that, yeah. So when I saw that, I was like, yeah, it's something going on, like. And then hackett got, uh, demoted. You know, he's not calling plays no more like. Definitely something went on within that organization that that led to that.
Speaker 2:It wasn't just based on him, that team being two and three like yeah, because I believe they were talking about it during the off season like possibly making a change. But again, like you said, I don't think you change it. I mean, last year, of course, was, like you said, a wash. I believe in that. But I think, with how the defense played last year, like how he got the defense to play last year and then coming in this year, I mean like look who you've won against, Look what defenses you've won against. You've won against the Niners defense, one of the tops in the league. Denver's defense, one of the tops in the league. Denver's defense one of the tops in the league. Minnesota's defense one of the tops in the league. Like you went against some of the top defenses in the league and your defense also is like ranked 25th in the league in defensive penalties.
Speaker 2:So, like you said, I don't think it's just this schedule, but, like you said, it's got to be something else going on. Like you said for the play calling to change, for you to get rid of the coach, use the defensive coach as an interim head coach and then you take play caller away from Hackett, which that's you know, Rodgers' guy. So there has to be something going on right there in order for Rodgers to kind of be okay with you changing his play caller Because Hackett is there, because of Aaron Rodgers, you know like let's, you know, call it what it is and for him to allow somebody else to do the play calling, which the playbook doesn't change. The plays doesn't change, but they were not calling good plays. Their run game was non-existent. You got Aaron Rodgers throwing it 52 times against the number one defense in the league.
Speaker 2:You know what I mean. Like that shouldn't be happening, especially when you got Brees Hall back there. You got running backs, you targeting. I think they need another weapon too. So the whole Devontae Adams thing that we was talking about last week, because you targeted, he targeted Wilson 28 times last game.
Speaker 2:You know what I mean and the only other person that got targeted you know more than you know was Lazard. You know Lazard had a couple targets, but like that was it. It was just force-feeding, trying to force-feed Gary Wilson, trying to make a play, huh.
Speaker 3:What's Elijah Moore doing Nothing?
Speaker 2:A whole bunch of nothing, nothing. You also got Mike Williams who got a couple catches, but like you need one more. I think you need one more asset on offense Because I just think Mike Williams is just not back to being Mike Williams yet, especially off all the injuries he done had and you know, coming back, I just think in a new system I just think you need another weapon and you bring in somebody like Devontae, who knows the offense, who already has rapport with Aaron Rodgers, to kind of get that going. But you got to get more out of the run game, like if you can't run the ball it don't even matter. Like the run game, like if you can't run the ball it don't even matter. Like the passing game weapons. You got none of that matters if you can't run the ball. And you know from Brees Hall, like last year or even the year before his rookie year, he went crazy to now like just very minimal. But then the rookie Allen, like you know he's some timey, but you got to get the running game on point um and I just think all those past plays, I think that's really what got and what got the play calling taken away from hackett is just you're just not calling, you're not sticking to the run, you're not even giving the run a chance. You know what I mean. It's like as soon as you get down, you're just throwing, throwing, throwing and you and you got a 40-year-old quarterback. Like that's not the way. Like that's not the way you got to lean on the run and, I think, switching up the play caller. Hopefully we'll see.
Speaker 2:You know what? Monday night they got the Bills. Yep, you know division rival. Like you know, I picked the Jets to win just because you know, normally once you make a coaching change, you start making, you know, offense. You start making these changes, team instantly responds most of the time If you happen with, like Carolina and these other things. Like teams instantly start responding once you start making these huge changes. So I feel like that's a game that they probably will win. But yeah, no, definitely I feel changes. So I feel like that's a game that they they probably will win. Um, but yeah, no, definitely, I feel like it's definitely something, something else.
Speaker 3:Uh, I'm not even sure I picked that game. I'll get it in, just for the real. I'm gonna just go uh. Uh, I'll go jets, just in case I don't get it on paper in time.
Speaker 2:We got this, but yeah okay, um question for you, yo bingles. Turnaround starts with this game, right here. Like I feel, like we get five games in. You done, you done, took your bumps and bruises. You gotta win like. I feel like now playing the giants this week, like now y'all go like this is the time to go. I feel like now playing the Giants this week, like now y'all go Like this is the time to go.
Speaker 3:I feel like we missed the window already, man you think so.
Speaker 3:Yeah, bro. And then it's like I can see if I mean, the games are close but if our defense wasn't so garbage Like our defense is as bad as it comes and it's just like it's finally starting to because, like I said, these past few years we've been don't break, Like we will tighten up in the red zone for sure, hold you to a field goal. But even on back to the year we went to the Super Bowl, teams had free will up and down the field. We used to just some kind of way figure out how to hold teams to field goals, like I mean, you get a touchdown, you get a touchdown Like it just doesn't even matter. I mean, if you look at Burrell's stats, even with that first game having zero touchdowns, he's leading the league in touchdowns and we're one and four.
Speaker 2:He's like number one in passer rating number three in yard he's number. I can tell you right now I'm looking at it.
Speaker 3:Chase is number one in pass and touchdowns.
Speaker 2:He's second in QBR and tops in pass and touchdowns with 12. That's crazy. And five of those have been to Chase, who's tied for first in the league in that category. Also, he's second in receiving yards. So yeah, I don't know, man, but the defense is ranked near the bottom in several categories.
Speaker 3:I'm not optimistic about this season but, like I said, bro, I'm just not one that really I've seen so much bad football. It just doesn't bother me, and I think it bothers other people that it doesn't bother me. But, like bro, all I've known is for them to suck. So it's another year. Like I'm going to watch, I'm going to support for them to suck, like, so it just it's another, it's another year like i'ma watch, i'ma support. But I saw this defense coming like I mean, they, this is booty, bro, they, they suck, they can't do anything. So you just can't win with that man, you gotta.
Speaker 2:But I think, I think having some, I think I mean the giants, the giants are the giants, but I think your momentum has to start somewhere and it started.
Speaker 3:It should have started with the ravens.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean yeah I mean, but I mean, uh, I mean a kickaway. I mean like that's to me, like that's, that's not a, that's not a loss to me like I don't, I don't think you sit back and say damn, we lost that game.
Speaker 3:If you two and three, three and two, then yeah, but one and four, bro, it's icy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean less than 6% of teams make it to the playoffs with a one and four start. But if I had to pick a team out of all the one and four, teams to do it, it would be the Bengals right now. I'd fuck with that. I mean they team out of all the 1-4 teams to do it. It would be the Bengals right now. I feel up with that. They always start off slow but, like you said, they have one best talent.
Speaker 2:Our schedule's not crazy hard that's what I was about to say too. The schedule's not crazy outside the NFC North it's not really crazy. Even if you look at the North now the Steelers they're starting to have question marks. The. And even if you look at the North now, like the Steelers, they're starting to have question marks. The Ravens they can't stop the pass. You know y'all defense is having struggles, but Cleveland is a complete shit show. I don't know how that happened, me neither.
Speaker 3:They didn't even lose anybody.
Speaker 2:But see, the problem is is that you had a quarterback in there that was playing good and you let him go because you didn't want to lose the locker room for Deshaun Watson. And now Deshaun Watson is nowhere near what he was in Houston and he got a guaranteed contract Right. And now you got Joe Flacco at the Colts leading the league in QBR right now Right, and nobody offered him a contract. He said the Colts was the only team to call him and offer him a contract.
Speaker 1:Like Cleveland, you just had him.
Speaker 2:You could have. Just all right, man, we're gonna give you another year. Man, what you did last year was great. Come back later in the year, like, come on back, Just in case we have an injury or something happens. We can put you in there. You already know the system. Blah, blah, blah. Now you're stuck with Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 3:You might be, I mean.
Speaker 2:I think they was talking about bringing in Jameis Wilson yeah, might as well, Might as well you might be. I mean, I think they was talking about bringing in Jameis Wilson yeah, might as well, Might as well. Like at this point, you might as well Like he done threw for 5,000.
Speaker 2:He done let the league in passing, before he done let the league in touchdowns before he has let the league in interceptions also, but at this point he can't play any worse, right so? But you know anyway. Getting back to the Bengals man, like I said, I picked them this week. I think they beat the, the Giants, I just think the Giants Don't even have enough. Offense to, to really Press Y'all defense. I mean outside of neighbors, I think.
Speaker 3:He's gonna go crazy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think if y'all Can contain him, then I think it should be all right. Like I said, the Giants isn't nothing to write home about, but I think this is the type of game that your defense can use to, you know, kind of get some momentum rolling on that side of the ball.
Speaker 1:They had a player's only.
Speaker 2:I'm reading this right now they had a player's only defense had a player's only meeting on Wednesday after the Bengals lost. Meeting on Wednesday after the Bengals lost, but you know, led by Kim Taylor Britt, you know.
Speaker 3:Oh shit.
Speaker 2:I mean, somebody got to take the lead on the game.
Speaker 3:That's the only nigga that shouldn't have been saying nothing. Well, nah, because I think I hate Jermaine Pratt more than Kim. Jermaine Pratt is the epitome of trash. I want to fight him. He's that bad. He's number one. Daxon Hill Is probably number two. Yeah, they suck man, they suck. Von Bell coming back he's terrible, I mean terrible. Dj Turner is pretty bad, but Von Bell coming back, he's terrible. I mean terrible. Dj Turner is pretty bad. They just look bad man, they just look bad. We can't get a pass rush. And I think his scheme too, like why we're running like man on fourth and two, I mean why we're running zone on fourth and two.
Speaker 2:Just little stuff like that, Bro. I say the same thing about our defense.
Speaker 3:When I watch a game. That's why it's not about the wins and the losses. What are you doing on the field? You know what I'm saying. A team needs two yards and you're running a base four, three and you just got these big ass gaps in between all the linebackers. Wide receiver just runs a dig right across the field. He can stop here. He can stop here, just watch. Like who does that? You know what I'm saying. So it's just that kind of stuff. It's just, even if we were to sneak that win out defense, still booty, people get so caught up in wins and losses, like if we were to make that kick, that defense still played horrible.
Speaker 3:It doesn't make that game any. You know what I'm saying play horrible. It doesn't make that game any. You know what I'm saying. The defense still play horrible. It is what it is. I see past the wins and the losses sometimes, man, because it's deeper than that to me.
Speaker 2:Last and not least, before we get into our pick-em's Saint-Start Rattler with the car injury. He, Last and not least, before we get into our Pickle Zone, St Stark Rattler with the car injury. He came in after he got hurt. He didn't play bad Like he seemed comfortable in the pocket, Seemed like he had, you know, somewhat command of the offense.
Speaker 3:That's what's up. I didn't watch it. I think I went to sleep on that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but they had Rattler, and I guess his name is Hainer Hainer. Yeah, yeah, number two. They had them both at number two quarterback, but like they don't, yeah, ooh, ooh, I see that too, samuel, so you're not catching him.
Speaker 3:Yeah, almost a pick.
Speaker 2:Yeah, hey, but yeah, so anxious to see how that play out, man, the Saints got off to a fast start this year. Past couple games they just have not looked anywhere close to how they looked. So maybe, rattler, you like to say these young quarterbacks, they need to play. He's from Oklahoma, right I believe? Yeah, yes, oklahoma and South. He played at Oklahoma. And right I believe? Yeah, yes, oklahoma and South. He played at Oklahoma and South Carolina. Yep, so we'll see how it goes.
Speaker 2:Man Carr may be one of the latest veteran QBs to replace Bob Rookie. Man, and right now, saints, what do y'all have to lose? Y'all not. You know what I mean. Like it's time to see what you got. I think at some point you know and this is just what I believe Like people say, like even when Anthony Richardson is healthy, like do you just keep rolling with Flacco?
Speaker 2:And I say no, and I only say that because I think what everybody believes and I believe it also like Flacco, yes, he's a better quarterback. He's played what? 13, 14 years, something like that. So of course he's going to be better. But how does Anthony Richardson get better unless you play him? Like you don't draft somebody number four just to sitting behind, you know, a one-year quarterback, just to win games. Like, yeah, I mean, hopefully you win games with your, with your young quarterback, but he doesn't get that experience one way or another without playing. So, um, I say let rattler go. Man, saints, what else can you do? Man, you've been bringing in, you know, quarterback at the quarterback, at the quarterback, after drew brie's been gone. Like, bring in a young boy and you know, start building. You already got the defense, just start building on the offensive side. That's real. And he gives you a bit and he can move around in the pocket, which Carr really don't really do too much. Like he got some wheels too, so can throw on the run. From what I've seen, man, he may be a nice little boost from David Carr Derek Carr, not David Carr. But yeah, man, with that.
Speaker 2:That was Ike saying he was talking about IU. We can jump in to these Pick'Em records. Everything's updated this week. I went 8-6. Jerry, you went 7-7. Ike went 8-6, and Justin went 8-6. Everybody went 8-6. Man, that was a pretty solid week Overall record I'm 42-36. You 43-35. Ike is 48-31, and Justin is 43 and 35. So not bad man, we're not doing too bad. I appreciate Ike for keeping up with this. That's one less thing I got to do. Ike said he got Jets for you. He said he got you. He put it in there for you. All right, bet, appreciate that. He got Jets for you, he said he got you he put it in there for you All, right bet.
Speaker 2:Appreciate that. So I picked in the let me switch over to see these games. For tonight's game, I picked Seattle. I think I'm the only one to pick Seattle.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think I got 49ers on that. I picked 49ers. Like I said, they roster better than everybody.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but it's just like man, they just it's like.
Speaker 3:There ain't not one team that I'm not going to pick the 49ers against.
Speaker 2:It's hard not to pick them, but I'm like, man, they haven't won a division game yet. They lost to the Rams, they lost to the Cardinals and now they're playing Seattle. I'm like.
Speaker 3:Damn, they lost to the Vikings too. That might come in, that might come in and fuck them actually, because that's three NFC teams, so the tiebreaker is like that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2:I can see if you're losing to random AFC teams like, alright cool, that don't really affect you down the road. Like I said, losing to the Rams and the Cardinals, that's division. You know what I mean All division and conference, They'll be all right.
Speaker 3:The roster's just too good tonight, unless Purdy just turns into what everybody thinks that he's going to end up being, which is just average Joe. But their roster's just too good bro.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, you pick Niners.
Speaker 3:What's up with Caffrey, though, man who?
Speaker 2:knows. I heard he went overseas to see a specialist. They're saying it's like an Achilles Tendonitis, yeah, tendonitis, or something like that. To go get all these opinions over tendonitis, man bro.
Speaker 2:I think it may be one of them KD situations where you know what I mean, like it's on the verge of breaking. You know what I mean. Like if he play, it's like there's probably a chance. That's tough. But do you want to go and get surgery, like now, and you know what I'm saying, possibly miss out the whole year year? Or do you want to wait until you get close to the playoffs which you know if y'all make it, get in there, maybe play a game or two, you know what I mean possibly get your team in position to go back to the Super Bowl you know what I'm saying and then deal with surgery in the offseason?
Speaker 3:That's tough yeah that's, that's tough.
Speaker 2:I actually just bought a.
Speaker 3:I just bought a, a game worn um on car auto of christian mccaffrey. I think it's like second year. It's not a rookie, it's like second year or still. Yeah, I'm hoping, I'm hoping buddy buddy comes back from that, because I mean, like, if you like football, you want to see.
Speaker 2:Ike said tendonitis in both legs. Damn yeah, yep, yep, wow, I didn't know that, yeah Well you probably want to. I say get surgery as soon as possible if it's needed. And then you know what I mean. Try to battle back. Then they try to pull a, pull a. Let's do a name for the Rams who came back. They came back in like eight weeks the running back.
Speaker 2:Akers, cam Akers. Yeah, he had like a I think it was an ACL tear or something. He had the surgery and was back in like eight, like the fastest recovery, they say ever. From the day Aaron Rodgers, his recovery was number two. Beyond that, I hope he comes back because watching the Niners without McCaffrey is like yeah, it's not fun bro, I mean, I'll take that back.
Speaker 3:It's fun, but you just want to see McCaffrey.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you want to see McCaffrey, just because you know, andy gets it.
Speaker 2:Exactly, you want to see him play Alright. So with the pick-ems, I pick Seattle for the night. You pick the Niners, I pick Indy. You got the Bengals, I pick Jags. I mean, you pick Jags, I pick Chicago Got Green Bay. New England, let's see who they play. Coats and Titans I pick the Coats, you pick the Coats. Jaguars and Bears I pick the Bears, you pick the, you pick the Jags. Cardinals and Packers you pick the Packers, I pick the Packers. We got Texans and Patriots. I pick the Patriots only because they're playing the Packers. I pick the Packers. We got Texans and Patriots I pick the Patriots only because they're playing the Texans and I need the Texans to lose. You pick the Texans. Buccaneers and Saints I pick the Buccaneers, you pick the Bucs. Also, we got Browns and Eagles I pick the Eagles, you pick the Eagles. Commanders and Ravens I picked the Commanders and you picked the Ravens. I just the Commanders have been throwing the ball very well and again, like the.
Speaker 3:Ravens, everything very well.
Speaker 2:They have been doing everything very well but, like the Ravens, have just been bad against stopping the pass. That's one of my growing reasons why I picked the Commanders. I'm just a believer in the Ravens man. Me too. I got to that game.
Speaker 3:I'm like I'm probably going to regret this. They're not lacking anything, really.
Speaker 2:It's just pass defense. I don't know, like you said, it could be scheme, but it's just pass defense. Chargers and Broncos I picked Denver, you picked Chargers. Broncos' defense has just been playing real good here lately, so if they can bring their offense along, you know what I mean. Bo Nix he went through three touchdowns but he also went through four picks. So like, who knows, this may be one of those you know tug-of-war games, but I think the Broncos' defense is just better than the Chargers' offense right now. Who's still trying to figure it out? Under Jim Harbaugh. You got Steelers and Raiders. I pick Steelers, pick Steelers also. I mean, who knows what's going on with the Raiders right now, like in that building. You got Lions and Cowboys. I pick Lions, you pick Lions also. I just the Cowboys. Just I don't know.
Speaker 2:Again, like when they play tough teams, they just tend to lose. So like, fair enough, they just tend to lose. Like they do not win hard games, like ever. Um, you're right though. Falcons and panthers I picked the panthers. Um, again, the falcons are three and two, but they could very, they could easily be one and four or two and three right now. Um, again, like close games, like like they've been battling for. These ran field goals like and I think if the panthers I mean with these two teams being used to playing each other I think if the panthers come to play, then I think they could probably take the falcons. I think the falconscons could be had any week until they often start showing some more consistently otherwise. And then we got Sunday night Bengals and Giants. Again, we already talked about this. I picked the Bengals, you picked the Bengals also. I just feel like this will be one of those games that just get them rolling in the right direction.
Speaker 3:Hopefully I picked the Bengals more so about the giants yeah, exactly, no, I mean I don't believe the bingles is actually going to take care of business. So right.
Speaker 2:And then we got monday night. We got bills and jets. I picked the jets. Um, oh, you just picked the jet. You picked the. You just picked the Jets. You just picked the Jets too, right, yeah, okay. So we both picked the Jets. Even with Aaron Rodgers throwing three interceptions last game, he still got seven touchdowns to four interceptions.
Speaker 2:I think, like you said, normally when the team make a dramatic switch change in the organization, usually the team responds that next game Yep and the Bills with, hopefully, you know, allen passes concussion protocol. I think if he wouldn't have, we'd have heard about it yesterday. So hopefully he's okay, but last game he looked like he was clearly concussed because he was 9 for 30 passing. Like that's just not how Allen normally plays. But and it's at, jets are at home for that game too. So, like I said, I think the Jets just bounced back by week teams Chiefs are on the buy this week, rams are on the buy this week, dolphins are on the buy this week and Vikings are on the buy this week. So, yeah, man, that's all I got for tonight. Man, any we defunding anything today?
Speaker 3:Man, we defunding Brownie James tonight, bro? What, bro Dang? I can't see it, bro. I'm sorry, you know me, if all people want to see him, be great, I cannot see it. Like the guy does not try, I mean he doesn't even look the part on the court. It's just, I can't see it, man. I can't see it, man, I can't see it. And it's just like it sucks. Because you know, I always used to say, well, I can't say Bronny's garbage because he don't actually shoot. But it's just like I figured by now like he would be aggressive and like looking for to do stuff, like he does not look to be on the basketball court and it's just like how he seems intimidated to step on the defensive end.
Speaker 3:I mean, yeah, he's short, but you know, at some point you got to just put your head down and dominate something.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but see like people say he's.
Speaker 3:Whether it's passing, whether it's defense, none of those require you to be tall and it's just like, like with LeBron being your dad man, how have you not, like, found your niche? How have you not figured out how to make basketball easy? I just don't get it. So I mean, shout out to him, I hope the best, but I just don't see it and I'm about to give up. So, yeah, we're defunding. I ain't going to say defunding, let's just call it a final thought. I ain't going to say I'm defunding him, that's just my final thought.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, I think. I mean he has shown glimpses on the defensive side. He normally I mean to be 6'2", he just looks so uncomfortable offensively.
Speaker 3:Like you can't look, even if you're standing in the corner. I've seen people stand in the corner for a whole career and look more like, look more like ready to play than Bronny James. Like he just looks completely uncomfortable. He just looks like he. He looks like he doesn't belong. Um he, he looks uncomfortable with passing. He looks uncomfortable with running like I.
Speaker 2:I just I don't know, I don't know. I think I think we're also being on the court with your, with your dad, aka lebron james, like can't even really know he's been like this.
Speaker 3:No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2:No, no, I'm not saying just being like that, but I'm thinking like definitely now at this point, like in your head oh I see what?
Speaker 2:you're going, yeah, yeah, if you like you mess up, like I know you just got to be thinking like, oh man, what if I throw a bad pass and it's a turnover? Like what if I shoot a bad shot? Like what if I? Like, like you just constantly has that what if, what if, what if? And I think if he just kind of relaxed and granted this is the beginning of the season, who knows what he'll be by the end of the season, and to be going back and I think they say he's going to go back and forth between you know, the active roster and G league, which I think would be great for him. But like, just relax, go out there, play, allow yourself to make mistakes. Um, learn, do every fucking thing your dad does. Like I would literally be glued to my dad's hip. Like if you eating a carrot stick, I'm eating a carrot stick. Like whatever we're doing, we're doing.
Speaker 3:He just gotta be savvy, man. I would be cooking off the pick and roll like bro. I would just be unstoppable from a cerebral, cerebral standpoint. You know, I'm saying and that's the part that kind of just drives me crazy, it's just like, well, how are you? I mean you should be able to just kill without even like thinking at this point, if lebron's your dad, bro, with all the basketball you've seen and been around and with 50 a day you should just be able to kill without even breaking a sweat.
Speaker 2:You know what I'm saying, but I think, to put that type of I mean, you got to think he's been walking around with this pressure all his life too. Ever since he first picked up a basketball or stepped on the basketball court, like the shadow of your dad has been with you.
Speaker 3:Yeah, bro, so that shit didn't involve us. Oh, no, no, I agree.
Speaker 2:Like by this time exactly by this time you should be like you done got this far with it. So like now, what's the worst that can happen?
Speaker 3:And then it's like I can even see like, say he wasn't a basketball player, like I get it, but like you are a basketball player, you want to play basketball.
Speaker 2:This is what you want to do. It ain't like you were forced into it yet.
Speaker 3:Right. How have you not figured out how to play?
Speaker 2:I don't get it, or just be more aggressive offensively.
Speaker 2:I think defensively he'll be okay, because that's one of the easiest things. That translates over. If you can play defense, like most of the time, you can play defense, but offensively that's probably one of the toughest things, especially if you didn't just have a go-to move or you weren't just dominant offensively in college or even at the AAU level, which he never really was Right To. Now get in the league. It's like everybody's faster, stronger, bigger. You've got to figure out a way to score points and even if it's knocking down the open three you've got to be able to knock it down.
Speaker 2:You could be a 3 and D guy and play like Danny Green, like you could play this many years. You know what I mean, right, even being on the smaller side, like what they say 6-2, 6-3. Yep, I mean even. Look at Derrick Rose. You look at John Morantz. Even D-Wade was playing two-guard and he was 6'4". 6'3" maybe, like these guys aren't huge guys. I mean, there's guys to model your game after Right and get after Chris Paul 6'2" Right.
Speaker 3:And like I'm saying, even if you're missing the shots, I get it, but like he's not even displaying the skill that that he can get his own shot, it's super frustrating to watch, man.
